The televised "If Walls Could Talk" last week featured a restored house and
the female owner revealed a pair of shoes (male and female), a corn cob, a
medicine bottle, and other items concealed in the chimney. She then created a
total fantasy explanation about the 18th century couple wishing to live on
together with food (corn cob) and good health (medicine bottle). I was appalled
that she stated her fantasy as though it was truth. As well, I looked at those
antiquated shoes and felt sad that they were not receiving conservation care
or that they were taken from their provenience of the past 200-years.
