Thanks for those nice words. The Program Committee really took care of
scheduling the sessions, and I'm sure there was no intention of slighting
any topic. The problem was that we had more than 700 papers to get into the
schedule; the Committee really had to juggle to make it all work. It's
interesting that you mention the feminist theory session. That topic was
scheduled for presentation toward the end of the 2006 conference, and the
session organizer was furious that few people attended. She specifically
took the Committee to task this year about scheduling it on Sunday so they
moved it in an effort to placate her. Like you, she felt her topic was being
slighted by having the session on Sunday.
It's understandable that everyone wants his/her paper scheduled during the
prime hours. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough prime hours to
accommodate everyone.
I agree that the Jamestown visit would have been much more fun during the
day. The Committee did its best to make the night visit work, but it was
hard to see what the site had to offer.
