ARCHAEOLOGIST POSITION OPENING 



Sagebrush Consultants, L.L.C., a Utah based cultural resources firm in 
business for 23 years, seeks a qualified candidate for the position of 
Archaeologist. Responsibilities for this position will include the preparation of proposals 
and research designs, the supervision of field crews in a variety of 
environments, the recording of prehistoric and historic sites, the excavation of 
prehistoric and historic sites, the analysis of survey and/or excavation data, the 
preparation of technical reports and NEPA documents. 

Most projects are located in Utah, but others may be located in Idaho, 
Wyoming,  Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and other Western states. The 
position will require frequent contact with a variety of clients and governmental 
agencies. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: 

> Willing to learn and take direction 

> Completion of a Master's Degree in anthropology or closely related field 

> At least two to three years of archaeological field experience at 
supervisory level; experience in Utah or adjacent states preferred 

> Willing to carry out both historic and prehistoric archaeological work 

> Good writing and verbal skills and analytical abilities 

> Demonstrated ability to work individually as well as part of a team

> Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines 

The benefit package includes holidays, health insurance, a 401(k) retirement 
plan and paid personal leave time (after a waiting period). The successful 
candidate will have the opportunity to work with veteran archaeologists, 
historians, architectural historians and managers and be exposed to ideas, challenges 
and opportunities not often found in larger, corporately structured firms. 
This is a full-time hourly position, not an individual project assignment. The 
successful applicant must be willing to relocate to the Ogden area and will be 
expected to travel for project assignments.  Compensation will be negotiated 
and will be commensurate with experience.
