Years ago on a survey with Deborah Bodie, she told me that inorder to
review, use or cite, anything from the State of New Jersey Site list,
one had to sign an affidavit or legal paper to the effect that you
would not use it for illegal activities. We were surveying the Little
Sprout Brook and areas around the Passaic River, in Lodi, New Jersey.
Part of the brook you cross on a bridge from the parking lot to the
big box store in Paramus, NJ. Behind the then recently abandoned
drive-in I recall finding a sleeping bumblebee in its little solitary
nest in the stream side looking for easy profiles in that very built
up, flood-prone flood control study(studies) that has been going on
for decades with the Army Corps of Engineers in New Jersey. Talk about
landfill. They had an amnesty for the those found by the special
mapping investigative department pay the taxes for five years or the
property value on the "made" land near the watercourses.
