The Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve (Alaska) will be

advertising two positions for GS-9 archaeologists in the near future. The

positions have not been announced yet, but we are trying to get a jump on

the hiring process at this late date. One of the positions will help with

archaeological work at the Kennecott Mines National Landmark. The other

will be conducting compliance work in other parts of the 13 million acre

park. Applicants must satisfy the Secretary of the Interior’s professional

standards, meaning graduate degree in archeology, anthropology, or closely

related field, plus experience. We are particularly interested in

applicants who will be enrolled in a college or university during the fall,

but all qualified applicants will be considered. Positions would run from

June to August or September.

These positions can be challenging because of the remoteness of the

location, but the experience is well worth any minor inconvenience. For

more details please contact: [log in to unmask] (Cultural Resources

Specialist) or [log in to unmask] (Archaeologist, Kennecott).
