Steve Rose asked about Imidacloprid poisoning. I asked the same, since our
work indicates similar results to that seen in France. But, its hard to
imagine that the nicotinics have suddenly been used all over the NE U.S. And, I
looked at colonies (yards) on different sides of the same field, orchard,
etc. -- some are affected, others aren't. If it were something being
administered to the plants in a field, the other yards should have shown a response.
If it were a long term effect -- from a previous location -- that still
leaves us with several eastern states and Wisconsin.
