Apologies for cross promotions.

Leadership is a key ingredient to personal and institutional success yet
cultivating strong and visionary leadership remains one of the greatest
challenges facing the cultural sector. What are the qualities and
attributes of successful leaders and successful institutions? How do
you assess leadership in an institution and define leadership at the
individual level?

Leadership in Cultural Organizations

November 6-10, 2006

Join the Cultural Management Program at the University of Victoria for
this five-day immersion learning opportunity for professionals in all
areas of the cultural sector. Explore two parallel themes - personal
leadership and institutional leadership. This course will focus on
contemporary challenges and issues impacting leadership in the cultural
sector and examine strategies to cultivate institutional leadership and
enhance personal leadership. Participants will have the opportunity to
explore these issues for their own institutions and themselves.

Instructor: Gail Anderson

With almost 30 years of experience in the museum field, Gail Anderson
brings an extensive knowledge and understanding of current issues,
creative solutions, and diverse strategies for institutional success in
the cultural sector. She helps position organizations for greater
relevancy and success by assisting trustees, directors, and staff in
facilitating strategic planning, organizational assessment and
development, board development, and individual coaching. Before
beginning her own consulting business, she was deputy director of the
Mexican Museum (San Francisco), vice president of Museum Management
Consultants, chair of the graduate Department of Museum Studies at JFK
University, assistant director of the Southwest Museum, and museum
educator at the Museum of Northern Arizona
