The best times to use the rulebreaking baby lying almost on the back
position are when baby has torticollis or the mother's nipples point
almost to the floor. A lot of the knowing how to put mom and baby
together successfully comes from intuition and experience. The key is to
keep flexible in your approach, even if you generally try your favorite
thing first at most consults. When it's not working, try something else
to get that chin on breast, philtrum (that little ridge between nose and
upper lip) to nipple lineup.
