I think the term "common knowledge" is code for "a completely unsupportable
statement". The statement is outlandish, and of course, unsupported. 

But beyond that, it is almost hilarious how many people refer to "genetics"
without having the flimsiest of understanding of heredity - especially as it
relates to honey bees. 

Better go back to the books.
