This can happen sometimes. Very much less so if you level the hive with  
spirit level and wedges; pay extra attention to spacing; persuade any meandering  
comb back to the straight and narrow with a hive tool before it becomes too  
firmly established.  This works on my top bar hives even without strips:  just 
a bead of wax drawn with a soldering iron.
