In discussion with someone recently, they told me of a very different method.
Pick the hive from which you what the cells
Remove the queen
Take one of the frames with lots of brood and eggs and with your hive tool
score a deep line right across the length of the frame and put it back
The bees will supposedly build many a cell with larvae in them right across
that line.
