The book "Reel Shame" (from the B-movie fans of stomptokyo.com)
describes Richardson playing a nuclear physicist as "the greatest
suspension of disbelief asked of moviegoers in history." Then adds -
what if her character teamed up with the nuclear physicist played by
Keanu Reeves (!) in "Chain Reaction". 

Let us not forget the mostly-TV-but-they-made-a-movie-of-it-too Queen of
Hollywood scientists, Special Agent Dana Scully.

Or Julianne Moore's paleontologist in "Jurassic Park 2" (she gets a
bigger part than Laura Dern's paleobotanist in part 1).

Or E, the crazy inventor/haberdasher from "The Incredibles".

Or the cetacean expert from "Star Trek IV".
