Megan,

Castle Island, adjacent to Washington, NC, had a lime kiln at one point. I am not sure if archaeologists have documented its remains, but Dr. Brad Rodgers, Dr. Nathan Richards, and a group of ECU Maritime Studies grad students documented the shipwrecks used as cribbing for the wharf associated with the kiln.
