The Fletcher Hobby House nearby had "Fried Marbles" a clear marble of
a color, amber I think, you would fry in a frying pan, slip into cold
water and it would internally shatter (I want to say "crenelated"?
like the marble that killed "Godzilla"? but that's not right) to be
glued into a necklace or other jewelry. I am reminded of the quartz
cobbles for sale in one of the scientific houses, buy these two rocks,
bang them together and see the sparks! (piezoelectric characteristics
of quart\, known to Long Island kids I think)
