I hope you don't mind me throwing in some trivia every now and then.
Well, for now, here goes:
I am listening to Tovey's Piano Concerto (Hyperion CDA67023). The
orchestral introduction is 2.38 minutes before the piano starts up. The
orchestral introduction to Busoni's piano concerto is longer than three
minutes, and very dramatic. What is the longest orchestral introduction
in the first movement of any romantic period piano concerto that you
know of?
