We wanted the same information, so when our new register was installed,
we loaded all the current members numbers in as PLU codes. Every time a
membership is used, we key in the member number, and in the future we
will be turning member numbers into scanable UPC codes. We can then
periodically pull reports showing the use of each number.
I know there is software out there for admissions that includes
membership tracking, but for us, adapting a fairly cheap ordinary
register in this way was the cheapest way to go. We are a small center
with in the region of 2,000 members, and an additional 18,000 member
codes are already loaded into the register. This should continue to work
for us for the next several years.

Can anyone suggest a system for tracking membership use? We're curious
about how many times in a year a family uses their membership. We're
also considering going to a punch card system for memberships. I'd like
to hear about any positives or negatives regarding that option.
Thanks!
