Fellow Vauban addicts may be interested to hear that according to 
reports in the press that France is submitting 15 of its finest 
Vauban-designed late 17th century fortifications for World Heritage 
status. These include the marvellous citadel on Belle Ille off Brittany 
on which I nearly got stranded after a  day visit in Sept when the ferry 
broke down.
