The Randell Research Center (RRC), a research and education program of
the Florida Museum of Natural History (FLMNH), located in Pineland, Lee
County, Florida, seeks a Research Programs/Services, Coordinator 2 to
develop and deliver public outreach programs in archaeology (including
environmental archaeology); assist local governments in their efforts to
preserve and protect regional archaeological resources; and act as a
liaison among the RRC, the Florida Division of Historical Resources,
local governments, and local archaeological, historical, and
conservation groups and institutions. The incumbent will live in Lee
County, Florida, and will represent the Florida Public Archaeology
Network (FPAN) regional public archaeological center serving Charlotte,
Collier, Glades, Hendry, and Lee counties. This is a time-limited,
full-time, TEAMS exempt position with benefits including health
insurance. 

 

Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of
specialization, archaeology or anthropology; or a bachelor's degree in
an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate
experience. Must have good communication skills, be organized, and be
proficient with computers including Microsoft Office suite. Experience
in teaching and successful experiences with volunteers required. Must be
proficient at presenting archaeological, historical, and ecological
information to lay audiences. 

 

Ideal candidates will have: At least two years experience in field and
laboratory archaeology required; additional experience desirable;
experience in the archaeology of the southeastern U.S., especially
coastal Florida, highly desirable. At least two years experience in the
successful supervision and administration of archaeological projects or
programs required; additional experience desirable. Experience in public
archaeology, including a successful record of having worked with
volunteers required. Successful candidate must be personable, outgoing,
capable of working in a team environment, and able to present
archaeological information in an interesting and understandable way to
non-professionals, including teachers, K-12 students, and the general
public; incumbent must be comfortable with public speaking and willing
to travel extensively in a five-county area within southwest Florida,
including flexibility with work schedules to include some evenings and
weekends; experience with heritage education and/or environmental
education highly desirable. 

 

Salary Range: Salary: Range $36,000 to $45,000, commensurate with
experience and qualifications.
