Yes, tested queens watched a whole season before using to
make the mix normally do cost more by the time you sort
through and watch on average 18 or more
traits/characteristics before deciding whether or not to
use or pass. In the past we have sold a single queen this
way after using for breeding for $800, as it is bad
practice to use same queen a second time in mass with
outbreeding even. But last time we did this was in
mid-1990s and believe me these queens are handled with
great care, for you may only find 2-3 in a given year out
of say 1,000 you look at that you want to use.
