Seconded here. McGlinn revolutionized the way writers think about
American musicals in particular, and he was, according to me, a superb
conductor of them. His CD of Gershwin overtures for EMI (I think
discontinued, naturally - it's EMI) is classic, but then, just about
everything he touched was superb. I certainly preferred him to Mauceri,
who got more press.
