If I understand Dee correctly, what she is saying in essence is that cell
size is not a reliable rapid test for AHB in areas where the size has been
reduced by the beekeeper for unconnected reasons.
Wings venation is taken as being a good pointer towards distinguishing
between the various races of European honeybees and they are listed in Ruttner's
book. Can the same test be applied as a reliable indicator of AHB? This would
not be as accurate as a DNA test but could be done by the amateur beekeeper
with little trouble, given some instruction. Are the wing vein indices for
AHB listed anywhere?
