Hello all,
I am completely stumped with this poor lady and would love some help on
this one. She had a water birth at home, breastfed with no problems for
the first month then a bad plugging of the duct which the midwife mistook
for mastitis and treated with abx. Midwife referred her to me and I sent
her to ultrasound for her plug. It cleared immediately afterwards with
baby feeding and mum went home. I gave her instructions on breast massage
and frequent drainage. She returned a couple of days later with not one
plug but 7. She went to two courses of ultrasound and now hardly any milk
is comming out and it is all thick lumpy. Baby is unsettled as he is not
getting much milk and mum is in agony. I am going to have her soak in very
warm epsom salt bath and then have her pump. Pain killers as well followed
by cold cabbage leaf compresses for comfort. Please let me know asap if
anyone has ever seen this before and if there is anything else I could do
or any better treatment. Please email me directly at

Mandi
