POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
ASSISTANT PROJECT CURATOR
The Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory seeks qualified
applicants for the position of Assistant Project Curator. The Assistant
Project Curator will be responsible for organizing and refining existing
artifact databases, and helping to integrate them with a new
Archaeological Records Database. The Assistant Project Curator will
also help organize the field and lab records, and producing digital
images of them for the Records Database. Responsibilities include
organizing and scanning paper and film records, managing and refining
existing archaeological databases at the MAC Lab, and data entry.
Knowledge of artifacts and experience working with archaeological
records are a must. Experience with databases, such as Access, Excel,
Rediscovery, or Fox-Pro, is preferred, along with knowledge of
Mid-Atlantic archaeology. The successful applicant must have good
writing and communication skills. MA in anthropology, history, American
Studies, or related field required. The applicant may substitute a BA
and two years experience. Position lasts approximately 11 months.
Full-time contractual position, no State-paid benefits, $18.01/hour.
