True enough, FUDS only works within US and possessions, though I heard an
unsubstantiated rumor that a new round of base closings in Europe might
include some UXO removal. Otherwise, that AND what would be 106 compliance
in this country is supposed to be handled by the "host" nation ("tanks for
the memories?"). In general, most nations throughout the world have stricter
compliance requirements for historic preservation than the US does, so this
may not be a bad thing, though I don't know how strictly they are enforced
within US military facilities.

Don't get me started on what the US military has done, and is still doing in
Iraq!
