I hate to be a pill, but has anyone noticed that, despite our jokes and
banter about this, Megan has not (to my recollection) answered our
questions -- why a male archaeologist? why a "youthful" one? This has also
been asked on other lists where her request was posted, as indicated below.

Oh, I think we know all the reasons (look at what aging female newscasters
have to go through, once they are deemed too old for the camera). But I for
one would like to have an "official" (and honest) answer.

I think that the British Time Team has pretty well shown that even scruffy
middle aged archaeologists can have drawing power on television...granted,
some on their team are very telegenic as well as being good archaeologists
(Carenza Lewis comes to mind) but some are "of a certain age" (ahem) while
being "engaging", "adventurous" etc.

Got to go take my (aging archaeologist) blood pressure med now!
