I worked for 2 years at Cornell's Waste Management Institute and their main
issue at the time was the spreading of sewage and/or manure on farm fields.
Human sewage is very bad stuff, and animal manure is not much better
considering all the antibiotics and mineral supplements that are fed to
animals and wind up in the manure. I wouldn't want it my backyard -- or next
door, which is a vacant pasture -- upstream from my well.
