Summary
We are very please to bring you a special climate change presentation by Dr. Thomas Karl, director of NOAA's National Climatic Data Center, in Asheville, NC. Dr. Karl serves as Report Chief Editor for the Climate Change Science Panel's (CCSP) Synthesis and Assessment reports on the state of the climate. Specifically, his new report is titled "Temperature Trends in the Lower Atmosphere: Steps for Understanding and Reconciling Differences." On Wednesday, May 17, Dr. Karl gave a public briefing in Washington, D.C., on the newly released CCSP report in which he addressed key points in the debate surrounding the research about global temperature trends. In short, the debate has been resolved and, as stated in the report, anthropogenic forcings are the cause of Earth's modern warming trend. In his presentation, Dr. Karl will discuss the major points presented in his report as well as touch upon some remaining outstanding questions facing climate scientists today.
A more detailed abstract will follow soon, as well as instructions on where to obtain a copy of Dr. Karl's presentation as soon as it is available. Until then, please mark your calendars and plan on attending this timely and topical session.
We hope you can join us.
