Near Twin Falls, Idaho, some farmers excavated stock ponds to hold water
from the Twin Falls Canal Company. In winters, between 1910 and the early
1940s, local residents enjoyed ice skating on these ponds. Any removal or
modifications to the ponds was met with outcry. When the canal company
ceased winter water delivery the ³rinks² closed, much to the dismay of a new
generation of skaters. It was after WWII that a refrigerated rink was
constructed within the city.
