Point of view is the key to all critics including me. One could probably
surmise I was bending way over to say something positive about this
weeks BSO program which did not run 1 and 3/4 hours and featured the most
uninteresting music imaginable for a 20th century music lover. Rattle
could have provided even a small piece from his native British Isles
(Elgar, Bridge, etc.) to round out a program of really "OLD" music. The
"fidgit" factor in my row was very high!
