The story I recall was that Slonimsky rebarred the piece so it would be
easier to conduct.  If my recollection serves me right, Slonimsky refers
to that point in his autobiography while mentioning an encounter with
Bernstein who mentioned that he was still using the score which Slonimsky
had edited.
