I'm not sure why the 'related internet links' both seem to be about 
Cuba!

The article fails to mention the presence of a large number of Jews - 
Marcos Albuquerque of the Federal University of Pernambuco has ecavated 
the Synagogue, and there have been plans (perhaps executed) to rebuild 
it and provide an interpretation centre.
