Can't say I remember MS Diamanti, but I graduated from the Penn
Anthro program about the same time ('74). Had a great time and
learned a lot. While some of the cultural anthropologists at Penn
left me cold, I really enjoyed working with John Witthoft, Bernard
Wailes, Alfred Kidder, and Fro Rainey. The physical anthro classes
were excellent as well (Mann and Katz). The intro geology course was
so good I almost changed majors (and resulted in my first arrest, but
that is another story). Yes American Civ and Classical Archaeology
were separate, but they had very different points of view. As I
remember it Classical was primarily, if not exclusively, graduate
level. On the other hand everyone's experience at college is
different. Two people even taking the same courses can have
completely different reactions, one happy the other miserable.
