Project Cataloguers, Archaeological Collections
Unearthing New Castle’s Past
University of Delaware Department of Anthropology
The University of Delaware Department of Anthropology seeks Project Cataloguers to lead cataloguing the collections from the Read House and Gardens, a property in historic New Castle, Delaware that has been the site of University of Delaware archaeological excavations and research since 1995. Project Cataloguers will work with students to complete a comprehensive catalogue of the Read House collection, including identifying and cataloguing artifacts; undertaking research and analysis; reporting from and maintaining computer-based artifact catalogue; and overseeing cataloguing interns and volunteers.
A degree in anthropology/archaeology or related field; experience with computer database applications; and the ability to identify the full range of artifacts found on Mid-Atlantic historic sites are required. Experience in a supervisory capacity is strongly preferred.
These are temporary full-time and/ or part-time positions beginning on or around 1 September 2006 and continuing through 30 June 2007. Evening and weekend work may be required. Pay range is $10.00-$13.00/hr. depending on experience. No benefits or housing are offered.
