Does anyone know the name or location of iron foundries that produced those
large iron cauldrons called trypots used in the whaling industry? And,
assuming someone does, do they still exist? A colleague of mine works at a
California State Park and would like to replicate a trypot that Roman Catholic
missionaries used to make tallow for candles in the early 19th century. I said I
would ask around.
