Any fellow Franchophile urbanists lurking on this list (Quebec, Mobile
etc) may be interested in the reprint of the 20 sheets of the Turgot map
of Paris of 1734-9 -the one with amazing 3D perspectives of all the
buildings. Its a bit too expensive for me unless an American uncle turns
up as the French say - but there is also a book LE PARIS DES LUMIERES
D'APRES LE PLAN DE TURGOT published by Réunion des Musées Nationaux 2005
and an exhibition at the Hotel Rohan. Map and book can be ordered from
chapitre.com. I think I shall order the book next pay check I get but
will have to miss the expo - though I could down some oysters and
Chablis in the Marais right now.
