Traditional meetings were segregated sexually, usually
with some form of low wall running between the sides.
This format persisted up through the mid 19th century
at least.

Regarding burials, many friends considered it garish
to have their graves marked in any fashion. It may be
apocryphal, but the grave of the founder of the
Society, George Fox, is said to have been marked with
a simple small stone bearing the letters "GF". When a
Friend found the stone while cutting the grass in the
cemetery, he was so irate that something so monumental
would be accorded to Mr. Fox, he smashed the
brick-sized marker into dust with a sledge.
