Delaware's history can be reduced to street names
The bright side of the development proposed for the Anne Barczewski
farm near Glasgow is all of the historical names the developer can put
on new streets and stores: Lord Cornwallis Corner, Philadelphia
Campaign Circle, General Howe's Hot Dogs, Lafayette's Lattes, Major
John Andre's Scarves and Neckties.
If Delaware allows one of the prime vestiges of its Revolutionary War
era to get paved, it might as well go all the way. We should change our
state's nickname from the First State to Second Rate. Stick a fork in
state pride, it's done.
