I have a ceramic query. I have some what appear to be green glazed or
green and white glazed majolica sherds from a coastal 16th century S. W.
Welsh context. I presume they are probably Seville (we don't use the
same clasification system over here)- wares but can't find any close
parallels especially re forms. Some of the sherds also have what loooks
like a red slip under the green glaze over a pale buff soft fabric.
The forms all seem to be slightly globular jar-like with simple slightly
inturned rims. The green glaze seems to be external or internal near the
rims with a white glaze over the rest of the interior. The glazes are
often badly decayed and worn. . Sorry I am not geared up yet to being
able to send a jpeg as I haven't had tome to learn yto use my new
digital camers.
