Mark Seeley wrote concerning Barbara Bonney:

Barbara Bonney was on the cover of Gramophone a few months ago and has
been reaping much public acclaim in recent years. I think she's married
to another classical vocalist, but he doesn't count. Bonney has recorded
some Mozart operas, just had released a cameo disc of Mozart arias, and
recently had a recording devoted to American composers. She's likely a
little higher on the food chain than Dawn Upshaw. Are you familiar with
Upshaw?
Bonney is relatively young, blonde, and would generally be considered
attractive by most males. However, she's not my type - much too wholesome
looking for my taste. What surprised me concerning her inclusion on the
list is that only time will tell if she attains the status of "one of the
greats." Bonney has a decent chance.
