The Mikado was once actually banned in Britain. c1911 AIR because of a
visit by the Emperor of Japan.
I also believe it was The Mikado which the late Sir Ernest Macmillan
directed at a POW during WWI.
Trouble was, he had no score. So he wrote it all out from memory.....
