Bach's cantata music has never taken hold of me till now, probably because
I ignored "religious" music. While driving across the northern tip of the
Navajo Reservation, of all places, I heard a cantata so beautiful on the
Farmington, NM, public radio station that I decided I must add some to my
active listening collection.

I don't know quite where to begin... there are so many. I am hoping that
members of this list can recommend a starter set of ten or so recordings
to get me going. I went to the Berkshire Outlet to discover 35 available
cantatas in 57 performances... and even at Berkshire prices, it would be
quite an investment. Please give me some recommendations of several BWV
numbers, performances, etc... They don't need to be available at Berkshire
as I can go online... Naxos has a lot of them... as does MusicBlvd and CD
Now.

I am excited to begin this new musical adventure!
