I'm a Brahms/Elgar lover, and, with respect, insist that there is as
much heart and soul in their best works as in any good music of whatever
genre.
But I would be displeased with anyone who thinks fiddle music has LESS
heart and soul. For a great CM piece wallowing in the foot-stomping
irresistability of the jig genre (the Texas fiddle tune "Dusty Miller"),
you MUST hear Stephen Montague's "Snakebite," on ASV records.
