Lost Towns Project of Anne Arundel County seeks new Lab Director

	Anne Arundel County’s Lost Towns Project is seeking a lab director to manage its archaeological lab in Annapolis, Maryland. Duties include; 
Ø	Collections management, including artifact intake, processing, and analysis, 
Ø	Maintenance and care of extant collections acquired through research and compliance projects within the County, housed in multiple locations, 
Ø	Transitioning Anne Arundel County’s current collections to a new lab facility based at Historic London Town in Edgewater, Md;
Ø	Managing staff, volunteers, and interns, 
Ø	Conducting independent research, and 
Ø	Producing reports and publications in a timely manner,
Ø	The lab director will also have the flexibility to work in the field as scheduling and staffing allows.

	Applicants should have well-rounded experience in laboratory procedures, including collections management, artifact identification, analysis, and basic conservation awareness. A successful applicant will be a polished writer, should demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, and have experience to manage a busy lab.  Computer skills should include proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs, preferably with specific experience in Microsoft programs, Filemaker Pro, and Surfer. GIS skills and/or networking capabilities are not required, but preferred. Experience with exhibit installation and field procedures is desirable. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. The position is contractual and renewable yearly, contingent upon annual funding.
