Add to yesterday's complaint about the Concertgebouw's programming (and
grudging admiration for the performance) a super-rave after last night's
Strauss "Don Juan" in Davies Hall - it had all the focused tension and
throat-grabbing intensity one could wish for, a truly great performance.
(BTW, I just realized having complained about the orchestra's conservative
presentations: http://www.sfcv.org/arts_revs/concertgebouw2_2_24_04.php.)
Also yesterday, yet another superb master class
experience at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music
(http://www.sfcv.org/2008/01/29/music-news-43/), and this for your
attention (admission is FREE, as marked below, otherwise $15-$20):

Goodness, gracious: so much to experience, so "inexpensively"!
