This work on "rogue laying bees" (termed "anarchy " by the researcher) 
emanates from studies on laying workers by Assoc Prof Ben Oldroyd and 
colleagues at the University of Sydney in Australia. I have heard several 
presentations on this work and its absolutely fascinating. See
