Robert,

When you say dynamic mic, does that exclude any type of portable
lavalier mic?  More specifically, what is your microphone set-up?  Is it
on a traditional stand, or a portable headset?

Hi Kim,

Over the years, I have wrestled quite a bit with sound systems.   I
finally 
got a Peavey Messenger system, and it has worked gloriously.   Be sure
to use a 
dynamic mic, as the Van de Graaff will kill the small electret mics.
The 
system was not cheap, about $500, but it has great sound, is very
portable, sets 
up fast, and works great with both the Tesla coil and the Van de Graaff.

Also be sure that you have a good, solid ground for your outlet.
Especially 
with Tesla coils, a poor ground is trouble waiting to happen.
