ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Are there any museums out there that use bar code scanners and displays
(similar to those used in stores like Target and other departments stores
as price checkers throughout the store) in their exhibits?

We are developing a new exhibit and would like to put barcodes on fake
food. We would like the price and a "fun fact" about the food to be
displayed as text. Ideally, we would have sound (and possibly graphics) to
go along with it too.

We know that something like this can be customized for us in a program like
Macromedia Flash, but, we were hoping that we would be able to purchase
something "off-the-shelf" and modify it. We also feel that it's important
that we can add/remove foods and facts without going to an external
resource/programmer.

Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated!
Sheri
