Mahler NOT in the movies.

On a related topic, in the book Bid Time Return, which was turned into the
movie Somewhere in Time, the protagonists' favorite piece of music was the
Mahler 10th as I recall.

In the movie, it was changed to Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by
Paganini, and the 18th variation was used on the soundtrack. Interestingly,
the screen play was also written by the book's author. I always wondered why
he changed his mind. The music by John Barry is really beautiful - one of
the best I have ever heard.
