Worth noting that Searle's 1st Symphony was premiered by (& dedicated to)
Scherchen; & a study score (at least) of the symphony was published under
the conductor's imprimatur. I have no idea whether this was a standard
part of Scherchen's operations (this is the only score i've ever seen
published under his name); but even if it is, it remains a remarkable
tribute to the conductor's admiration for the composer.
