This sentence seems to be contradictory. If pure honey has anti
bacterial and anti microbial characteristics, then the presence of
bacteria in honey would indeed be newsworthy.
I'd personally like to understand this better.

The implication then is that it's not the honey that naturally has
the bacteria, but unclean container or unsanitary practices?
